Wrocław, 20 November 2025 – LG Energy Solution Wrocław hosted an open day for journalists. Representatives of national and local media were invited to explore previously unseen training and laboratory spaces located in the technology park in Biskupice Podgórne: the Quality Experience Room and the Test & Validation Lab. After touring the production area, journalists met with the company’s President, Jangha Lee, who answered questions about the Żarnowiec project for PGE and the company’s plans for the coming years.
“In the past year, we have faced many challenges. Previously, we focused on expansion—building new facilities and production lines on site. Now, with this extensive infrastructure in place, we must concentrate on perfecting what we have created, and that is much more difficult. With the expansion of LG Energy Solution Wrocław’s portfolio to include energy storage systems, we have had to make numerous changes to our production lines, adapting them to this type of product and our clients’ requirements. As part of diversifying our offer, we are holding ongoing discussions with many customers across Europe, presenting our battery solutions. We hope that soon we will be able to share the results of these conversations.”
said Jangha Lee, President of LG Energy Solution Wrocław
Quality Experience Room – Experiencing Quality
Quality standards at the lithium-ion battery plant near Wrocław are a constant topic of conversation—not only during audits. In a dedicated space at LG Energy Solution Wrocław, experts conduct training sessions focused on the quality of LG products. Entire groups of shift leaders undergo training in multiple languages, including Polish, English and Ukrainian. The Quality Experience Room features several demonstration stations showcasing various types of defects that may appear on the production line.
“Our mission is to build awareness and reinforce employees’ knowledge regarding the safety and quality of our products. In this line of work, even the smallest detail matters greatly, and overlooking it can have equally significant consequences—for the business and for user safety.”
emphasizes Tomasz Dumicz, Director of the Module Production Department at LG Energy Solution Wrocław and the initiator of the Experience Room at LG Energy Solution
During the visit to the training room, journalists were given a special task: standing on opposite sides of a workstation, they had to find four screw washers. The task, however, was tricky—Group One, working at a clean and well-organized station, completed it in 8 seconds. For Group Two, it took over a minute.
“During training sessions and daily work, we remind our employees how important proper workplace organization is. Standardization is not just a procedure—it is a guarantee that a task will be carried out efficiently and correctly. In manufacturing plants, this is especially crucial.”
notes Kamila Gościniak-Wronkowska, Manager of the Module Line Improvement team at LG Energy Solution Wrocław
The training stations are exact replicas of specific stages of production lines in designated projects at LG Energy Solution Wrocław, each marked with the names of individual customers. When training, employees can test their attentiveness and their knowledge of LG products.
To become fully independent at a given workstation, an operator undergoes several days of training. Employees at LG Energy Solution Wrocław often have so-called “multiskills,” meaning they work at several or even a dozen or more different stations. Reaching full competency is time-consuming, and even after training is completed, employees are required to repeat the educational path in the Quality Experience Room every six months.
“Working at every stage of production involves tremendous responsibility. This is where we make our operators aware that each of us, at any moment, has an impact on the final product—whether by training, creating instructions and processes, or standing directly on the production line.”
says Kamila Gościniak-Wronkowska
“We always ensure that our employees can report any irregularities they notice, and each such report is an important source of information for us.”
adds Tomasz Dumicz
“Any of us might take an Uber that is an electric vehicle. We don’t need to own an EV to use a vehicle powered by lithium-ion batteries. It could be us or our loved ones. That is why we must be especially attentive in our work—we are responsible for people’s safety as well as our own.”
says Tomasz Dumicz
Test & Validation Lab – What tests does LG Energy Solution Wrocław perform?
During their visit to the LG Energy Solution Wrocław production site, journalists also toured the advanced laboratory where cells and battery modules for electric vehicles undergo testing.
“This facility was created through hard work. It is not just advanced machines and equipment—above all, it is the experience and engineering expertise of our employees that make this laboratory what it is. Many of them have been with us since the very beginning of battery production near Wrocław. Building this kind of cultural capital by supporting education—training and developing experts within the organization or collaborating with the best universities in the country—is one of our key local content goals. And it is also one of our strongest arguments in the conversation about what LG contributes to Poland.”
says Jangha Lee, President of LG Energy Solution Wrocław.
The Test & Validation Laboratory at LG Energy Solution Wrocław is a specialized unit where battery components and finished products undergo rigorous testing to confirm that they meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance. The laboratory plays a crucial role in verifying the durability, efficiency, and reliability of lithium-ion batteries through a wide range of mechanical, electrical, and environmental tests. It supports both product development and mass production, enabling early detection of potential issues and validation of improvements before implementation. By combining advanced equipment with expert knowledge, the laboratory drives continuous innovation and reinforces LG’s commitment to delivering safe and high-performance energy solutions.
As emphasized by LG Energy Solution Wrocław, the Test & Validation Lab is the only laboratory of its kind among all LG Group branches worldwide to hold an ISO 17025 certificate in the broadest possible scope—a distinction awarded to top-tier testing laboratories demonstrating the highest level of testing and calibration competence.
“We perform many types of tests on batteries: performance tests, safety tests, environmental tests. In the field of safety and environmental testing, these include short-circuit, nail penetration, crushing, overcharge, drop, shock, vibration, pressure, and climate tests, among others. To conduct them, we use highly specialized rooms with a height of 9 meters, built entirely from reinforced concrete, equipped with heavy-duty double doors, full monitoring, and complete control over each test. All of this is to ensure the highest possible quality of testing and, consequently, to guarantee that the product released for mass production—and ultimately to the customer—meets the most rigorous global standards.”
explains Rafał Grosner, Operations Manager of Test & Validation at LG Energy Solution Wrocław
A pioneering distinction in the EV industry
In October, LG Energy Solution announced that its Polish plant—LG Energy Solution Wrocław—had been awarded the Q1 certification by Ford Motor Company as a trusted supplier.
The prestigious Q1 certificate, whose name stands for “Quality is No.1,” is awarded exclusively to suppliers who consistently meet the highest standards in quality, systems, warranty performance, and delivery. It is widely recognized as the gold standard of quality in the automotive industry.
LG Energy Solution Wrocław received the certification after successfully meeting all evaluation criteria as part of Ford’s rigorous verification process. This achievement reflects the company’s expertise in quality control, continuous improvement, and commitment to customer service.
There is no future without quality – today
Receiving the Q1 Award, implementing the energy storage project in Żarnowiec, and expanding the plant into new business directions all align with LG Energy Solution’s broader vision: “Empower Every Possibility.” The company’s goal for the coming years is to go beyond traditional EV battery manufacturing and build a global circular energy ecosystem. Quality and safety form the foundation of this approach, as only reliable products can ensure a full energy cycle—from storage, through transfer, to reuse.
“Our contract signed in March this year with PGE for the Żarnowiec ESS—one of the largest energy storage systems in Europe—is proof that we seize every opportunity in line with our ‘Empower Every Possibility’ philosophy. We plan to begin production and delivery next year, and commercial operation of the Żarnowiec ESS is scheduled for 2027.”
summarizes Jangha Lee, President of LG Energy Solution Wrocław
The company emphasizes that all production is local. The process of entering the energy storage market progressed very quickly, which the company attributes to its strategic location and proximity to key partners.
The goal of LG Energy Solution Wrocław is to strengthen its position as a leading EV battery manufacturer and to become a comprehensive provider of energy solutions—enabling its partners to realize limitless business opportunities and supporting the development of sustainable mobility worldwide.
