When you hear a signal about contamination:
- Do not approach the danger area
- While in the open area:
- pay attention to the wind direction,
- leave the affected area perpendicular to the direction of the wind,
- follow the instructions contained in radio, television or mobile sound messages,
- protect the respiratory tract, make a protective filter from available materials,
- When you are indoors, homes, offices, shops, etc.:
- take children and disabled people into their homes and confer farm animals in their premises,
- notify neighbors,
- turn on the television or radio on the frequency of the local station,
- listen to broadcast messages and rules of conduct in the situation,
- strictly comply with the instructions given by local authorities or emergency services,
- extinguish and do not use open sources of fire (junkers, stoves, cigarettes, etc.),
- seal window and ventilation openings and doors with wet paper, fabric or cover with adhesive, insulating tape),
- prepare respiratory protection, make a protective filter from available materials (a handkerchief, tampon, towel, scarf, etc. moistened in water or in an aqueous solution of baking soda) and put them on as needed,
- prepare for a possible evacuation (prepare the necessary luggage, food supplies, medicines, personal documents, flashlight, etc.),
- secure food products and prepare a supply of water,
- After the evacuation message is announced, turn off all electrical appliances, take the prepared luggage, close the apartment and go to the indicated place.
Alarm cancellation:
- Strictly follow instructions given by local authorities or emergency services.
- In the event of contamination, undergo sanitary treatments, immediately carry out decontamination of clothing.
- Do not drink contaminated water and do not consume contaminated products before decontamination, as recommended by health authorities.
When you hear a signal about the possibility of explosion or fire:
- Do not approach the danger area.
- While in the open area:
- leave the endangered area,
- follow the instructions in the radio, television or mobile sound communications.
- When you are indoors, homes, offices, shops, etc.:
- turn on the television or radio on the frequency of the local station,
- listen to broadcast messages and rules of conduct in the situation,
- strictly follow the instructions given by local authorities or emergency services.
- People staying in the place of residence after hearing the first explosion and possible violation of the building structure should place themselves in the safest place, carefully covering their heads.
- People remaining in the destroyed facility, without the possibility of leaving it, place themselves in a place that allows free breathing and waiting for the help of rescuers.
- People staying in the open space should evacuate to a safe place as soon as possible.
- Do not try to save property and animals until the explosions have ceased and the situation has stabilized.
- Those remaining in the endangered area without the possibility of leaving it on their own, and in a situation that does not threaten their lives, are to wait for the help of rescuers
5. Information on the main scenarios of industrial accidents
In the event of the release of a hazardous substance from the production installations located in LG Energy Solution Wrocław Sp. z o.o., a serious industrial accident may occur, which is the direct cause of the chemical hazard. The type of hazard depends on many factors, and above all on the properties of the released substance, quantity, physical state, process conditions, type and method of release and possible interactions with the environment.
A major failure can occur if there is a leak in the connections and fittings of natural gas pipelines. Potentially the greatest danger could arise as a result of a catastrophic gas pipeline break. Such an event can only occur in extreme cases, for example as a result of a collision with heavy equipment. Natural gas escaping from a potential leak will pose a fire and explosion hazard.
The potential emergency events indicated in the above subsections may lead to the following phenomena:
- Fire – If combustible substances are released from the installation, a fire may occur, which will pose a threat to people and have a negative impact on the environment due to thermal radiation and fire gas emissions. The area affected by the fire is generally local and limited to the plant area.
- Explosion – If flammable substances are released from the technological installation, a gas cloud with concentrations within the explosive limits may form and spread. If such a cloud encounters an effective source of ignition, an explosion may occur. As a result of the explosion, a wave of overpressure is created, which spreads in all directions. The strength of the overpressure wave decreases with increasing distance from the explosion site. The effects of explosions are mainly felt in the immediate vicinity of the explosion site, but they can be heard and cause some losses also at greater distances from the plant.
6. Information on safety measures and ways to mitigate the effects of an industrial accident
In order to prevent and limit the effects of industrial accidents, LG Energy Solution Wrocław Sp. z o.o. has implemented a number of technical, organizational and procedural safety measures.
All devices in LG Energy Solution Wrocław Sp. z o.o. have numerous security systems, which include, among others:
Control and measurement equipment and automation, responsible for early detection of abnormal process conditions and automatic, appropriate to the situation, reaction. It guarantees the safety of people and property in the field of prevention, prevention and protection against the effects of major accidents.
Safety valves – responsible for protecting pressure equipment against excessive pressure increase.
Fire Alarm System (SSP), which includes fire alarm control panels, manual call points, optical-thermal smoke detectors, acoustic sirens, linear smoke detectors.
Protection against pressure increase and vacuum, individual technological nodes have been protected against pressure increase through the use of safety valves.
Inertization of the system, controlling the reduction of the amount of oxygen contained in a given device / system / machine / room to a level at which it is impossible to create and maintain a combustion reaction.
The system of factors limiting the probability of an industrial accident and minimizing the effects of a potential accident also consists of organizational measures. In order to prevent the occurrence of industrial accidents and to minimize their effects, LG Energy Solution Wrocław Sp. z o.o. has implemented a safety management system, which includes a number of elements taking into account:
- define, at all levels of the organization, the responsibilities of the personnel responsible for action in the event of an industrial accident, as well as the measures taken to raise awareness of the need for continuous improvement;
- defining a training programme and providing training for workers and other persons working in the establishment, including subcontractors;
- mechanisms enabling systematic analysis of the risks of an industrial accident and the likelihood of its occurrence;
- instructions for the safe operation of the installation containing the dangerous substance, provided for the normal operation of the installation, as well as for maintenance and temporary interruptions in operation;
- instructions on what to do if changes are needed in the industrial process;
- a systematic analysis of foreseeable situations which may lead to industrial accidents;
- conducting, taking into account the best available practices, monitoring of the functioning of the installation in which the dangerous substance is present, enabling corrective actions to be taken in the event of phenomena deviating from the normal operation of the installation, including those related to wear and corrosion of the installation and corrosion of its components;
- a systematic assessment of the accident prevention programme and the safety management system, from the point of view of their timeliness and effectiveness, indicating how it is documented and validated;
- analysis of the internal emergency plan.
In the event of a failure:
- The offices and institutions required to alert will be notified;
- In the event of a threat to the population, procedures will be implemented to alert the public.
