KEAW Marathon – 11th edition behind us!

On Saturday, October 5, the 11th edition of the KEAW Marathon, a run organized by the Association of Korean Entrepreneurs in Wroclaw, took place in Biskupice Podgórne (Kobierzyce municipality). This long-awaited event returned after a hiatus of several years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and has been a tradition for more than a decade.

This year’s edition was attended by more than 300 employees and representatives of companies operating in the Special Economic Zone in Biskupice Podgórne, including LG Chem Poland, LG Energy Solution Wrocław, LG Electronics, LG Innotek, LK Insurance, ServeOne, POSCO and LX Pantos. Participants, often accompanied by their families and four-legged friends, spent the sports day together in the spirit of integration and healthy competition.

A special run was organized for the youngest, where children, supported by their parents, could feel the joy of physical activity and competition. Adult competitors had a choice of 5km and 10km runs, which were conducted along Seoul, Korean, Cooperation and Innovation Streets – in the heart of the zone. Podium places and financial prizes awaited the three fastest male and female runners. The winner of the 10 km run achieved a time under 32 minutes!

In addition, all participants had a chance to win attractive material prizes by taking part in additional fitness competitions. In the competition in holding the “plank” and the “Kendama” tournament, washing machines, refrigerators or TV sets awaited the winners.

Together we run, together we help

This year’s edition of the KEAW Marathon was all the more special because of its charitable nature. In response to recent events, the organizers decided to change the original purpose of the event. In addition to promoting an active lifestyle and integrating employees, funds were raised to help those affected by the flooding in Lower Silesia. The funds collected during the run, amounting to PLN 1,700, were donated to the official collection of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity.

Although the main purpose of our run was to integrate employees and promote physical activity, this year we decided to respond to the challenges faced by our community. Therefore, all proceeds from the event were donated to help flood victims the organizers of the XI KEAW Marathon announced.
