LGES increases battery production capacity at its Poland facility over growing demand for Ford\u2019s EV lineup of Mustang Mach-E and E-Transit. LG Energy Solution doubles its production capacity for Ford by 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


LG Energy Solution said it is strengthening its relationship with Ford Motor Company. LG Energy Solution today said it is expanding battery supply for Ford over steady uptick in Ford\u2019s EV lineup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In reaction to the strong demand for Ford\u2019s popular Mustang Mach-E and E-Transit, LG Energy Solution has increased production capacity at its facility in Wroclaw, Poland. By utilizing the already existing production lines as well as advancing its facilities, LG Energy Solution is on track to double its production line by next year, and plans to continue to gradually upgrade the production capacity even thereafter.
LG Energy Solution began providing its batteries for Ford\u2019s Mustang Mach-E and the E-Transit in the latter half of 2020. More than 55,000 Mustang Mach-Es were sold globally last year, and Ford continues ramping up production of this mid-size SUV EV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ford President and CEO Jim Farley previously said via Twitter that the automaker is increasing production of the Mustang Mach-E starting this year and will triple its capacity by 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The automaker earlier announced it is upping investment for electric vehicle to USD 50 billion through 2026, from the previous USD 30 billion. It also plans to increase its global EV annual production run rate to more than 2 million units by 2026. Ford plans on having more than half of its global production be EVs by 2030.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The collaboration between LG Energy Solutionand Ford began in 2011 when the Korean-made batteries made it into Ford\u2019s Focus EV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
